Integrated Systems for Children and Families – Continuity and Alignment of Services

Fifth Meeting: January 26th – 28th, 2015, Malahide, County Dublin (Ireland)

Learning Objectives

  • Explore effective strategies being used to ensure that the needs of children from migrant families and other children from low income families are being met as several nations move toward integration of their early care and early education systems as well as prenatal and health systems into a streamlined network of services with a lead government ministry or agency
  • Learn about ways in which early childhood policy can be embedded in and aligned with strategies of poverty reduction and integration, and the ways in which interdepartmental cooperation is important in taking a holistic approach toward child well-being
  • Examine successful approaches in transitioning children and families, particularly those that are hard to reach, from one set of early childhood services to another, and identify strategies for effectively aligning early childhood services with the primary education system
